From innovation to circular economy

With the proclamation of the Green Deal as the central growth strategy for Europe in 2019, the circular economy has become increasingly important as the top priority on the agenda. The entry into force of the PPWR in February 2025 has also removed the last doubts that the new Packaging Ordinance will be the central design element for innovation in the future. We are taking this into account. The “Innovation” category becomes “Circular Economy”. Find out more about our fields of work, consulting focuses, services, the new Packaging Competence Centre and how you can benefit from it. Let’s make Circular Economy happen – and become a guarantee of success for your company.

From an aspect to the main focus

A look back at the innovation articles in our newsletters in recent years clearly shows how the focus has constantly shifted. However, circular economy issues have not only become increasingly prominent in the newsletter articles, but also in our day-to-day work. With topics such as “Next level paperisation”, “Price war and concerns about the future of recyclate” and “Bioplastics from renewables”, we have addressed hot topics. Today, the circular economy is the basis for forward-looking entrepreneurial thinking and action.

Achieving sustainable success

That is why we at BP Consultants are focussing even more consistently than in the past on the opportunities and risks arising from the circular economy and what this means for our customers’ product portfolios and business models.

As an independent consultancy, we combine technical and regulatory expertise with strategic thinking and an understanding of the packaging markets. On this broad and deep basis, we want to guide producers, packaging manufacturers and machine builders as well as EPR systems and associations to sustainable and sustainably successful decisions.

Fields of work

Our fields of work are clearly defined by the waste hierarchy of the Closed Substance Cycle Waste Management Act and the PPWR. It is about

  • reduction,
  • reusability,
  • recyclability,
  • collecting, sorting, recycling and
  • use of recyclate.

Focal points of consulting

Our core areas of expertise and services are specific and tailored to the needs of our customers. They can be categorised under the headings of politics, strategy and implementation.

POLITICS

  • Policy creates a framework for companies by defining the rules of the game for the circular economy and facilitating change.
  • We continuously analyse the regulatory landscape and provide a clear and objective fact base. This allows us to assess circular economy policy and its impact on your products, business model, stakeholders and industry in the best possible way.
  • In this way, we also ensure a legally compliant basis for the necessary transformations in your company.

STRATEGY

  • We support you in your strategic planning. The aim is to ensure the long-term viability of your company in the face of new changes in politics, society and markets.
  • We not only focus on compliance with circular economy regulations, but also proactively help you to capitalise on new opportunities to develop sustainable business models and product innovations.
  • We develop implementable roadmaps that help you reduce risk while capitalising on new opportunities.

IMPLEMENTATION

  • We not only deliver the strategy but also support you as a partner in
    ist implementation.
  • We look at the details and the big picture. That’s why we bring you together with the relevant circular economy stakeholders for projects and initiatives. Together, we can optimise packaging for recycling, close material cycles with the use of recyclates and turn the circular economy concept into a successful model for your company.
  • We are happy to assist you with the implementation from start to finish, from project management support to communicating the process and results.

Consultancy products

To ensure that we can deliver on this promise, we enter into targeted project-based and long-term partnerships, as will become clear in the following.
